The ESA Substance Test Heroin is a preliminary test for detecting the presence of opium derivatives – especially heroin, codeine and morphine, including drugs commonly used on the street drug scene which contain these compounds.
If opium derivatives (heroin, codeine) are present in the sample to be analysed, the colour changes from colourless to blue-green. Morphine is displayed in green. Raw opium leads to an olive-black colour change. The colour change already starts after a few seconds. In all cases, the colour is fully developed after at least 1 minute. As time progresses, the colour deepens. The evaluation should therefore be completed after 3 minutes at the latest.
